“Kelvin Mashisia Shikuku is a Senior Economist with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). Dr. Shikuku leads economics research related to uptake, diffusion, and impacts of drought risk financing solutions including the index-based livestock insurance. He is particularly interested in the nexus between climate action (including risk financing) and peacebuilding. His research also involves the use of crowdsourcing techniques and high frequency data to monitor shocks and resilience indicators to inform early and anticipatory action. Dr. Shikuku holds PhD in Development Economics from Wageningen University, Netherlands and MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics from University of Nairobi, Kenya. He is the Kenya Country Coordinator for the CGIAR Initiative on Livestock and Climate.”
