Dr. Kiplimo Araap Lagat is a development economist with over 15 years’ leadership experience in public service, consultancy, research, and training in both public and private sectors. Currently the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Co-operative Development in the County Government of Nandi. Currently the Chairman of the Agriculture sector CECMs caucus at the Council of Governors an sits in all Sector Working groups (SWAGS) of JASSCOM (Joint Agricultural Sector Steering Committee) which is an arm of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC). He previously served as the SWAG a Co-Chair in the Policy, Laws, and Standards SWAG and the Projects, Programs, and Inputs SWAG. Currently he is spearheading implementations of various major multimillion County Projects funded by the County Government, National Government and World Bank among other donor agencies. He also serves as a Co-chair at the NTAC for NARIGP/NAVCDP, ASDSP/KBDB projects. He has also spearheaded implementation of key county flagship projects including the Proposed Nandi County Creameries Dairy project, proposed Nandi Coffee Milling Factory, Proposed Nandi Apparel and Textile Factory and Nandi Poultry Slaughterhouse, Avocado Packhouse among others. Previously he was a Senior Lecturer in the department of agricultural economics and resource management. Formerly a visiting research fellow at Cornell University, Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management in the USA (STAARS Fellowship), and a Postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Siena, Italy. His areas of interest in research include Food Policy, Value Chain Development, food and nutrition security, financial inclusion, sustainable development & Climate change science and negotiations.
