Paul Gamba is a pioneer Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management at Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya specializing in Empirical/Applied Agricultural and Rural Development Policy. He was also a founding Senior Research Fellow with Egerton University’s Tegemeo Institute for Agricultural Policy and Development. He has provided advice and support to several Government Technical Taskforces in various countries, sectors and sub-sectors including overseeing the preparation, facilitation and guiding the implementation of international/national Policy and Strategy papers.
He has undertaken several tasks with local and international organizations. He has a long history of involvement in the formulation of overarching strategy and specific policy documents in Kenya including the Economic Recovery Strategy for Wealth and Employment Creation (ERS), Strategy for Revitalizing Agriculture (SRA), Vision 2030, Agriculture Sector Development Strategy (ASDS), Ending Drought Emergency (EDE), Agriculture Sector Transformation and Growth Strategy (ASTGS), National Agriculture Research System Policy (NARSP), National Agriculture Sector Extension Policy (NASEP), The Emerging Livestock Strategy among others. He has facilitated and moderated several agriculture and rural development policy related functions for international and continental organizations, Regional Economic Communities, Development Partners, governments and the private sector.
He has conducted several studies and contributed refereed journal articles. In recent times, he led studies on Kenya’s Food Systems Profile and the Kenya Agriculture Policy Landscape Analysis. He has been and remains a Senior Advisor to global, regional and national producer organizations. He has been involved in initiatives to develop capacity to enhance the alignment of Agri-food Systems transformation to African Economies through trade, public and private investments and the AUC’s CAADP Biennial Review process.
