David Maina is a seasoned economic development expert with over 20 years of experience in the agribusiness sector, specializing in large ruminant livestock and feed systems. He began his career in 2004 as a project extension officer and later transitioned into roles in markets and enterprise development, international development, and agribusiness consulting. David is the Founder and Managing Consultant at Perfometer, an advisory firm driving livestock and feed sector transformation across Africa. He has previously served as Economic Development Advisor at SNV Netherlands Development Organization and as Dairy Business Analyst with the FAO, contributing to development initiatives in over 10 African countries.
He holds an MBA in International Business and a Master of Management in Agribusiness from Copenhagen and Strathmore Business Schools, along with a degree in Economics & Mathematics from the University of Nairobi and professional training in finance and project management. His expertise includes economic viability analysis, fodder systems, livestock value chains, and enterprise performance. David is currently a Feed and Fodder Business Development Expert for the African Union’s Resilient African Feed & Fodder Systems (RAFFS) project. He is also actively engaged in policy development and advocacy through diverse media platforms.
